Yesterday I was going through the new posts on the blogs that I follow and was so pleased to see that Melanie of Another Day In… had posted Thankful Thursday #1 and will be continuing to post Thankful Thursdays. This got me thinking… I asked Melanie if she would mind if I also did a weekly gratitude posting and she thought it was wonderful. Thank you Melanie for being such a caring and sharing soul.
As a therapist I am a huge believer in gratitude. I know that you can’t be grateful and negative at the same time, maybe within seconds, and not in the same moment. When I find the negative self-chatter going in my head it’s gratitude that I use, as my tool of choice, to stop it. Sometimes it’s so strong that I forget I have a tool to stop it!
It’s human nature to want to better ourselves and it’s also human nature to do that process by coming from the perspective of lack: what we don’t have, who we are not being (the most important one according to me) and what we are not doing. This doesn’t work. It’s like trying to build a house without pouring the foundation, you can only work with what you have, who you are and what you do – we need to build on those to better ourselves. Gratitude is a reminder of our true abundance and I consider that beautiful. It’s a gift from your soul to all souls, including yourself.
With that said…
This is not an actual picture of the flooding, this is a marsh in Aruba.
I have such loving and wonderful people in my life. If I felt it was appropriate I would take a photo of each and every one of them and pay homage weekly to one. They all know who they are and I love them back with every fiber of my being. This photo was also taken in Aruba.
Look at that punim (yiddish for face), I love the way she lays her head on me and looks at me with such adoration. I rescued you Mitzi, but you saved me. She’s my daughter and I think she’s da bomb!
Yes I have much to be grateful for and will be posting it weekly on Fridays. I hope you too are grateful for all the beauty and wonder that is in your life and that is in you.
May your journey be delicious and the company you keep inspiring and supportive.
