Welcome

Psycho Weight Loss is dedicated to the sharing of recipes, inspiration and mental & emotional well being articles related to weight loss and obesity. I hope you will join me on my weight loss journey and allow me to share in yours as well.

I’m an emotional eater. I’ve lost and gained many pounds since I was 11 years old, now I’m 49. My highest weight was 338 lbs, I’m presently 275.2 lbs. (as of November 6, 2013 – I’ll be keeping posting weigh-ins as I come down). I didn’t start this particular journey at the 338 lbs. mark, I started this time at 321.4 lbs. What I’ve learned is that I can only lose weight will only work for me if I’m eating delicious food that I love, deprivation will drive me to binge eat every time. This is why I choose to count calories, it allows me to eat the flavors I crave. I don’t need to eat a slice of pizza, I need to have the flavors of pizza as part of my healthy eating. Since I love to cook, I’ve found this is fairly easy for me to do. I know I have found the lifestyle I can keep. Do I still have triggers…absolutely. Am I learning to deal with them…absolutely.

I’m also a psychotherapist or psycho therapist, whichever you prefer, with a non-religious spiritual perspective, so I do have a lot of tools to help me stay on track. I am looking forward to sharing these with you as well as sharing and discussing some of the challenges that comes with emotional eating.

Knowing me I’ll probably also share some of the other things I’m passionate about like volunteering at the Red Deer Hospice here in Alberta Canada, oil painting, the Centre for Spiritual Living Red Deer, and playing with Mitzi, my miniature Schnauzer. I’ll probably at times share about personal challenges like having A.D.D. become pronounced in adulthood. Mostly I want to share my love for good food and low calorie cooking, with a little baking thrown in on the side for good measure.

So, again, please join me on this journey of love because we cannot lose weight when we hate our bodies or ourselves…weight loss is a labour of love and I want to take the labour out of it and put the joy in it.

*Note: All calorie counting of recipes is done with the Lose It app and is straight calorie counting of the items in the recipe, which May Not reflect the actual calories. As well when using grocery items that differ from what I use and/or altering the amounts it will probably alter the calories. Please check labels when grocery shopping.

It’s my personal goal to make weight loss and weight maintenance deliciously easy for you and me. May your journey be scrumptious and the company you keep inspiring and supportive.
